Mornings with Titus

IMG_9742.JPG

I love mornings with this boy. He usually gets up before everyone else and does his own thing quietly. He is independent and curious so he loves the freedom of mornings where he can explore our house without limits or a sister stealing his ideas. I'm learning to give him the space he needs to learn and grow.

When I get up, I sit and read my Bible and scroll my phone with a cup of coffee. He will sit with me and read quietly, but the silence is often broken with his sweet voice. He tells me about things he has done and shares his imagination with me. It is the sort of conversations that only happen before his sister gets up. Once too many people get around, he moves to the side and out of the center of attention.

Every day, I hope for a morning alone and in the quiet before anyone gets up, but then I get these sweet moments with him and I wouldn't have it any other way. I just sit and listen and ask questions about his stories because I am so curious about his buzzing brain. He is truly an amazing human being. He is deep and introspective and one of my favorite people to talk to.

"Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. If you don't listen eagerly to the little stuff when they are little, they won't tell you the big stuff when they are big, because to them all of it has always been big stuff." - Catherine Wallace
